2nd Annual Food for Thought Challenge

Every May, in celebration of Community Action Month, Community Action Agencies (CAAs) come together to build awareness around poverty and demonstrate the reality of those struggling to overcome poverty. CAAs like the Jewish Renaissance Foundation (JRF) and Puerto Rican Action Board (PRAB) grapple with issues like budget cuts, the widening income gap, and the aftermath of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The Food for Thought Challenge is an interactive in-person experience that brings awareness through a visual representation to the issues of poverty in Middlesex County. Participants are challenged with the true meaning behind the statistics presented in newspaper articles and reports that many Middlesex County families know all too well. This year with support from Middlesex College, PRAB and the JRF are partnering with REPLENISH, and The Petey Greene Project (PGP).  We would love to see you all in person (it has been way too long), be able to see us in action, and be part of the conversation.  I would really appreciate if you could share the invitation and information as part of your “Daily Update” so some of our business owners can attend.  I would also be grateful if you will share this with your board and colleagues.

The Food for Thought Challenge will take place on Thursday, May 25^th from 11:30am to 3:00pm at the West Hall Parkview Room at Middlesex College.

For our 2023 event, we are inviting future leaders (college students), folks who work, volunteer, or support (grant administrators/managers who work in NJ state, county, and local departments or in corporate philanthropy who make funding decisions) our Middlesex County municipalities. Those attending will leave with a greater understanding of what many of our families face, available resources and what they can do to help.
